Types of urinary incontinence include: Stress incontinence. Urine leaks when you exert pressure on your bladder by coughing, sneezing, laughing, exercising or lifting something heavy. Urge incontinence. You have a sudden, intense urge to urinate followed by an involuntary loss of urine.
Whether the incontinence is faecal – inability to hold stool – or urinary – involuntary loss of urine – both situations are related to control. Life may want to teach me to be more flexible and let people and situations go. I have to leave aside my rigid thoughts which are only a protection I impose on myself to protect myself from my sensitivity where I cannot control the situation. In the case of faecal incontinence, I may wonder who the person or situation is that “pisses me off”. I may be in a very strong reaction to authority and having to undergo this authority leads me to experience this situation of incontinence. For me, authority can be the life itself that leads me to make changes that I don’t want to make.
In the case of urinary incontinence, this uncontrollable and unconscious release of negative emotions that urine represents can be a way to get more attention and affection. The underlying cause may be a feeling of rejection, lack of merit, insecurity or fear of the future. Urine represents negative emotions that are normally released when they are no longer necessary or intended.
Being unable to “control” the leakage of urine or stool, I am unable to control what happens in my life, including my emotions, and this can be frightening. It is important that these inner fears and insecurities be expressed. Great fear, stress or nervousness can also cause incontinence, especially in children. I realize that it is impossible to control everything that happens in my life. I want to learn to trust and I learn to love new and unexpected things.
